Born in Kasugai City, Aichi Pref., Japan. During his adolescent days, Ritsuo wandered Mexico alone. After that, he started to paint, studying in University of Veracruz and collecting butterflies and rubbed copies of ruins. In 1970 he returned to Japan, but immediately jumped to Spain to study in University of Valencia. European paintings moved him into his own root Japanese paintings. Now he enjoys his original "SUMI" world. In 1991, Ritsuo got a prize of cultural merits from Kasugai City. He is a member of Hakushikai (Japanese Painting Association) and a part time teacher in Nanzan University. Ritsuo likes to make a cultural exchange with International Students through his paintings.
